It’s a great loss for all people who appreciated a great artistic value although he was considered as a creator of dark and gloomy paintings and it was not so easy to deal with his visions.12 artists from 7 countries decided to pay a tribute to Mr. Beksinski and create a compilation which will help us firstly to remember about his outstanding paintings and secondly spread the knowledge about Mr. Beksinski among those who did not have a chance to appreciate his craft while he was alive. The compilation will be released on Feb 21st which is the second anniversary of the tragic death of Mr. Beksinski. The Album contains special tracks, never released before and inspired by the works of Mr. Beksinski. As his paintings were never titled, all tracks are unnamed as well. It is not possible to transform the image into the music, but, we believe, it is possible to create the music illustrating the image, reflecting the mood of somebody's visions... Try to guess Beksinski's visions dreams and nightmares... Please notice: Part of the proceeds of this release will be handed over to the Muzeum Historyczne of Sanok, the major owner of Beksinski’s works. It will support the Gallery of Zdzislaw Beksinski. However, the tone is less militant, the main themes being treachery and sacrifice, temperance and composure.
With a distinctive slice of military suicide pop fiddled into their sound, ROME has established itself as one of the most lively and interesting "martial" folk acts up and about. dark soundscapes and well-placed rhythms (mixed with a soundtrack type feel) can also be found within this new work. What might be a bit surprising though is the emphasis on rhythm; the opener
'hemisphere' f.e. contains a straight, almost trip-hop oriented beat that demands the listener's attention. The haunting, hypnotizing mood is still there but now it is tied to a metric like structure that wasn't
obvious in AB OVO's previous releases. sometimes, these beats are actually just bits - as in 'inlandsis',
where a short drum & bass interference emerges for just a few seconds. well placed samples, as in 'diaclase', enrich AB OVO's sound perfectly while not overwhelming the electronic sequences. voices - as
a sample in 'you are very far now' or as real vocals on 'in some ways' are also more apparent than on AB OVO's earlier works. especially Judith Juillerat’s guest appearance which pushes AB OVO toward a
direction they are unknown for - a beautiful song which could also attract 4ad addicts. the co-written track, 'the long tomorrow', ends the album with a breeze of sadness and melancholy - the perfect ending
