Nordic Audio Modern 2005

When I have found that NORDIK AUDIO MODERN will take place in Vilnius for the second time already I was really happy - good to know that interesting festivals live on. I wasn't even thinking about not going even if have seen almost all of the bands before in Moscow - we all should support underground music if we want it to be alive... and, in the end, how can anyone miss GREY WOLVES, CON-DOM, DEUTSCH NEPAL, HAZARD, JARL and FROZEN FACES? So, I packed my stuff, bought a visa and went for Vilnius, Wilno, an ancient capital of Belarus, presented to Lithuania by Stalin.

If you have never been in Lithuania before - you should! The country is really beautiful. People there a bit strange and unfriendly, but if you stay with them a bit longer they will show you that the first impression is wrong - Lithuanians can be really nice to you, they just don't trust to every stranger. Centuries of wars and occupations have taught them to be cautious: Russian, German, Swedish and Polish armies killed a lot of natives before... You should see Wilno, the capital of the country. It's really old: narrow streets, lots of churches and temples. And don't miss ruins of castle on the mountain in the centre of Wilno - view from Gediminas' tower is simply amazing! …don't forget that Lithuanian beer is one of the best in the world!

NAM was held in a club called Vault. The club is situated inside an old Soviet bunker - great decoration for a power electronics show, don't you think? Unfortunately, reality was a bit cruel - it was really cold and humid inside the bunker... it was so cold that now I have influenza. Plus, they did not sell anything hot down there - I do not count tea, cuz it wasn't really hot and totally tasteless... hey, they didn't sell even vodka! Nothing to warm yourself...

When I came into the club GREY WOLVES were already playing. Frankly, I wasn't impressed by their performance - I guess I'm not into old-school power electronics... I have seen GW two times and both times they sounded boring and emotionless.

As a backdrop for their show they have chosen some old porno movie and it was as boring as the music... where have they fount that shit?

Bare stupid porno with ugly chicks, blow jobs, cunts, dicks, anals and other shit - nothing extreme at all...

JANITOR, project of Lina B Doll and HAZARD wasn't impressing as well. Lina was walking around the place with his bass guitar, another guy was playing around with equipment... finally, Lina got bored with making sounds out of his guitar and put it on the floor - now anyone could touch strings and make sounds for JANITOR.

CON-DOM was the highlight of that night. The guy undressed a bit and painted his face and torso in black and white spots, later he was walking around venue and painting with that shit faces of audience.

I had to leave first rows of crowd and ran away - being painted wasn't in my plans for that evening. Music of CON-DOM was as good as power electronics should be - violent, solid, aggressive. On the backdrop they projected a video with "Turner Diaries", Malkolm X, M.L.King, Black Panthers, KKK, guns and other black-white violent stuff. Great! I have enjoyed a lot.

I have seen DEUTSCH NEPAL 4 times already and I should admit that his latest show in Wilno was among the best I have seen. Lina, you were fantastic! On the screen Lina showed his strange photo-collages made of body-parts.

Now I stop my story. I have seen WEIDAS, HAZARD and FROZEN FACES, but I wasn't impressed at all. It was so boring that I put myself in comfortable chair and drowned in slumber: I've heard music, but it wasn't good enough to make me get up and come to the stage... I have seen photos where Lina took off his pants - I missed that moment :) I was half-sleeping... sorry guys! Play more violent stuff!

I left the club before Latvian band began to play, so I do not know if it was good... I didn't want to see them cuz in their interview they said a lot of shit about Soviet so-called "occupation" of Latvia. Go back to your hole and listen to your music yourself.

In the end I'd like to thank Lashisha. We need more good festivals!
Sorry for my bad English - no one pays me for reports so I do not spend much time writing them :)
